Design of Authentication Device

In the industrial design of the three-function authentication device, simplicity and efficient performance are of great importance. Since the device has no display and is connected to a system, a simple keypad with high clarity and readability must be designed to ensure easy user interaction. The layout of the keys should allow fast and error-free access. In addition, the keys should have sufficient sensitivity and proper tactile feedback so that users can clearly perceive each input.

For ease of use, the fingerprint sensor should be positioned in a way that allows the user to place their finger naturally without any additional adjustments. The surface form housing the sensor should be ergonomic and intuitive, guiding the finger effortlessly to the correct position.

Structurally and economically, the device should be designed with a minimal number of components to reduce production costs and improve maintainability. Accordingly, the components should be modular and easily replaceable. The device must also have high resistance and durability for long-term use and operation in various environments; therefore, the use of high-quality and durable materials for the housing is essential. Energy consumption should be optimized to ensure better performance with lower power usage and reduced operational costs. Furthermore, proper sealing is necessary to protect the device against moisture, dust, and other environmental factors. The device should be designed in a way that keeps production costs low enough to remain competitive in the market and attract customers.

Ultimately, the design should be aesthetic and minimal, providing a modern and appealing appearance that enhances workplace environments alongside its technical performance.

Product Design Challenges

  • Integration of three different technologies (smart card read/write, fingerprint recognition, and fingerprint positioning detection) into a compact device requires precise coordination and simultaneous operation. This may demand more complex design as well as close hardware–software integration.
  • Proper placement of sensors and keypad design must ensure that the device is comfortable and intuitive to use. This challenge includes precise ergonomic design for finger positioning and easy access to keys.
  • High accuracy in fingerprint reading and positioning detection must be guaranteed so that the device can function reliably. This requires the use of high-precision sensors and advanced processing algorithms.
  • Modular design for ease of repair and component replacement must be considered to reduce maintenance costs and make the device easily serviceable.
  • Sealing and insulation of the device to protect it against moisture, dust, and other environmental conditions is another key design challenge that must be carefully addressed.
  • Reducing production costs without compromising quality and performance is one of the main challenges. The design must be optimized so that costs are minimized while keeping the product competitive in the market.
  • Developing a user experience that is both efficient and pleasant is also a challenge, especially given the absence of a display and reliance on keys and system-based feedback mechanisms.
