The Internet of Things (IOT), generally, refers to the objects and devices around us that are connected to the Internet and can be controlled and managed by applications on smartphones and tablets. The Internet of Things, in simple terms, is the connection of sensors and devices to a network through which they can interact with each other and with their users. This concept can be as simple as connecting a smartphone to a TV, or as complex as monitoring urban infrastructure and traffic.
The intelligent management system of Awake Apiary is designed to help beekeepers in the optimal management of hives and reduce losses. This information system, such as hive temperature, humidity, noise inside the hive, transmits the weight of the frames to the beekeeper. Also, in cases where the hive temperature is lower than normal, the heater adjusts the hive temperature to equilibrium. The design of this device was done in order to achieve the goals of ease of placing the device in the hive and accurate operation. In this design, considerations related to plastic injection molds, aluminum extrusion standards and the fit of the form with the location of the device have been considered.
